Dr. Raymond Barbers's Statement of Faith

WE BELIEVE THE WHOLE BIBLE (Genesis 1:1 - Revelation 22:21) IS THE INSPIRED, INFALLIBLE, INERRANT, IMPECCABLE, INDESTRUCTIBLE, IMPLACABLE, INCONTROVERTIBLE, POWERFUL, PERFECT, PURE, PRECIOUS, PRODUCTIVE, PONTIFICAL WORD OF GOD PRESERVED FOR US IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN THE KING JAMES VERSION (1611). II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:23- 25; Psalms 12:6,7.

WE BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY, AND THAT HE IS GOD THE SON AND THE SON OF GOD: just as much God as though He had never become man, and just as much man as though He had never been God. Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6,7;Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:35.

WE BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS, THE JUST FOR THE UNJUST, THAT HE MIGHT RECONCILE US TO GOD BY HIS SACRIFICIAL, SUBSTITUTIONARY DEATH UPON THE CROSS. I Corinthians 5:19; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 1:18, 19; I Peter 3:18

WE BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST ROSE FROM THE DEAD FOR OUR JUSTIFICATIONTHAT HE MIGHT BE LORD OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD. I Corinthians 15:3,4; Matthew 28:5,6; Romans 4:25; Romans 14:9; II Corinthians 5:15.

WE BELIEVE THAT CHRIST ONLY IS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST, AND THAT WE NEED NOT THE INTERCESSION OF ANY MAN, BUT THAT HE LIVES ON HIGH AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD TO MAKE INTERCESSION FOR ALL BELIEVERS. Hebrews 7:21-28; Hebrews 2:17,18; Hebrews 4:15,16; Hebrews 7:24-26; Hebrews 8:1-13.

WE BELIEVE THAT CHRIST WILL RETURN AGAIN TO RAPTURE THE SAINTS, AND THAT AFTER THE SEVEN-YEAR TRIBULATION (Daniel’s Seventieth Week: Daniel 9:24-27) WILL RETURN WITH HIS SAINTS IN REVELATION GLORY TO DESTROY THE LAST VESTIGE OF GENTILE POWER (the Ecclesiastical- Political Babylon) AND ESTABLISH
HIS OWN KINGDOM OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE, AND PROSPERITY UPON THE EARTH TO RULE FROM JERUSALEM TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH. Note: We are Pre- Tribulation and Pre-Millennialists * Phase One of Christ’s Return: The Rapture I Thessalonians 4:13-18 * Phase Two of Christ’s Return: The Revelation Revelation 19:11-16

WE BELIEVE THAT IN ORDER TO BE SAVED A PERSON MUST EXPERIENCE THE NEW BIRTH, AND THAT SALVATION COMES BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, NOT BY THE BLOOD OF SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS, BUT BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST ALONE. John 3:1-7; Ephesians 2: 8,9; Hebrews 9:12-14; I Peter 1:18-21.

WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY SAVED PERSON SHOULD DECLARE HIS FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST BY THE ACT OF BAPTISM, SETTING FORTH THE DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD. Note: Baptism signifies a Trinity of Truths: 1. An Historical Truth: Pointing back to the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. 2. An Experiential Truth: The experience of the believer in his death to sin, burial to the old life, and resurrection to a new life in Christ. 3. A Prophetic Truth: Pointing to the resurrection at the Rapture of all who have died in the faith. Romans 6:3-5.

WE BELIEVE THAT THE CHURCH IS A CALLED OUT, LOCAL, VISIBLE BODY OF BELIEVERS WHOSE EXALTED HEAD IS JESUS CHRUST, AND WHOSE MISSION IS TO PREACH THE GOSPEL, EVANGELIZE THE WORLD, AND TRAIN DISCIPLES. Colossians 1:18,19; Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15.

WE BELIEVE IN THE ETERNAL SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER AND THE ETERNAL DAMNATION OF THE UNBELIEVER. 1. Security of the Believer: John 10:27-29, Romans 8:35, Philippians 1:6. 2. Damnation of the Non-Believer: Revelation 20:1-5; John 3:18, John3:36; II Thessalonians 1:7-10.

There is a cleavage in the Christian world that divides it into two theological factions: CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS. We unreservedly, unhesitatingly, unequivocally, and unapologetically declare that we are CONSERVATIVES. We are fundamentalists because fundamentalists believe, teach, and preach the cardinal doctrines of the faith, take an unflinching stand against all evil and immoral forces in the world, and propagate the gospel in a worldwide program of evangelism. We are living in a world of religious "hodgepodge," a theological duke's mixture. Anything and everything goes to draw crowds and please people. Some say that it does not matter what one believes as long as he is sincere. I'm bold enough to say that it does make a difference—a difference as wide as eternity. It is important to know who we are and what we believe..Our identity and credo comes right out of the Bible, God’s divinely inspired reference library--His encyclopedia of knowledge, without error or imperfection. The following comes from the annals of fundamentalism, as well as from my own fifty-seven year tenure in the ministry as an independent Baptist.
